The EcoVadis questionnaire is a tool designed to assess a company’s sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) performance. This EcoVadis questionnaire evaluates sustainable practices across key areas. As an EcoVadis consultancy, we help you maximise your score in the EcoVadis audit so you can obtain the highest EcoVadis medal.

Below are the key components of the EcoVadis questionnaire, the evaluation process, the results provided, and how often the assessment must be completed.

What does the EcoVadis questionnaire include?

The EcoVadis questionnaire required to obtain EcoVadis certification covers four main sustainability areas:

  • EnvironmentQuestions related to environmental management, emission-reduction policies, efficient use of resources, and the adoption of sustainable practices across the supply chain. Holding an ISO 14001 certificate strengthens this score.
  • Labour & Human RightsAssessment of working conditions, equal opportunities, occupational health and safety (aligned with ISO 45001), and respect for human rights throughout all operations.
  • EthicsEvaluation of business integrity, anti-corruption policies, and transparency and ethical practices in commercial relationships.
  • Sustainable ProcurementAnalysis of sustainable purchasing policies, including the selection of responsible suppliers and the integration of sustainability criteria into the procurement process.

How is it assessed?

The EcoVadis questionnaire is assessed using a scoring system ranging from 0 to 100. Each assessment area carries a specific weight, and the company’s responses are evaluated based on the documentation and evidence provided.

The scoring criteria consider the completeness of policies, the level of implementation of sustainable practices, and the results achieved. The final score is accompanied by a detailed report highlighting the company’s strengths and areas for improvement.

Questionnaire results

The results of the EcoVadis questionnaire are presented as an overall score and a medal rating: Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. These ratings help companies understand their relative sustainability performance and communicate it to their stakeholders. Alongside the report, companies also receive practical recommendations to improve their sustainability practices.

How often must it be completed?

The EcoVadis assessment is generally carried out once a year. This frequency allows companies to keep their sustainability evaluation up to date, reflect the progress made, and respond to changes in regulations and market expectations. Moreover, the annual assessment helps ensure the continuous integration of sustainability best practices into business operations and guarantees that companies remain competitive and committed to social and environmental responsibility.
