ISO 26001 requirements
ISO 26001 is based on seven fundamental principles of corporate social responsibility:
- Accountability based on organisational governance. This involves integrating ethical values into decision-making and promoting internal transparency.
- Transparency, such as human rights, based on avoiding complicity in rights violations and promoting equality and non-discrimination.
- Ethical behaviour, for example in labour practices. This includes safe and fair working conditions, equal opportunities and work-life balance.
- Respect for the interests of stakeholders, such as the environment, by reducing emissions and consumption or promoting the circular economy and responsible waste management.
- Respect for the principle of legality through fair operating practices and ethical and responsible hiring.
- Preventing corruption and unfair competition
- Respect for international standards of behaviour. Issues relating to consumers, safe and accessible products, and clear and honest information are particularly important.
- Respect for human rights, such as community participation and development. This involves supporting local initiatives and promoting local employment and development.
